Data can be a story, if you know how to tell it.

Connect is a cannabis chemistry data science tool that visualizes different strains based on their chemovar, not genetics. It is a first of its kind tool for the industry and for consumers to know the true difference between one plant and another.

I’m not a data scientist, but I am a cannabis science nerd; so when the data scientist at Confident Cannabis, Amos Elberg, was tasked with taking the largest database of cannabis testing data available and making it an informative tool to the industry and to consumers, I was stoked to usher it along to market.

I co-led the project with Amos, he building the science and platform, me directing the project for accuracy, identity, and relevancy to the subject matter.

Specifically, I accomplished the following:

  • Directed the layout and function

  • Created the branding for the platform, including creating the lexicon used throughout

  • Led the design of the “Imprints” (visual representations of chemistry data unique to each strain)

  • Guided the layers available in the platform to provide insight into myths and misconceptions consumers and industry holds on cannabis chemistry

    • Debunked the Indica / Sativa chemistry myth using visual data mapping in the tool - the first time the myth has ever been tackled with such a large dataset and with comparisons between all states

  • Built the go-to-market strategy, and ran an intense PR campaign using Connect as the tip of the spear for Confident Cannabis’s platform for B2B cannabis sales, Wholesale, as well as the company’s lab-testing software.

  • Countless press articles and interviews, spanning all major cannabis publishers and beyond

    • Appearances on Montel Williams’ podcast, MJBiz Daily, Cannabis & Tech Today, CBE Insider, Ganjapreneur, Cheddar, Centennial Magazine and many more

  • MJBiz keynote presentation revealing the platform, debunking the Indica/Sativa myth for the first time on stage in 2018

  • Confident Cannabis considered the foremost thought leaders in cannabis chemistry and tech during this period

  • Ongoing content strategy for Confident’s website, generating incredible organic SEO
